Unless you manage to get hold of what's considered a "classic" you're probably not too happy about getting an older car. If you got this car cheap or for free you may be able to justify spending a few dollars to make it slightly less embarrassing to drive around in.

First of all, wash it. This may seem like basic advice, but you would be surprised at how much better your car will look if you give it a good wash job on a regular basis. I had an old 1978 Volkswagen Rabbit once and even though it was a little POS, it always looked a little better after a wash job. Make sure you wash it by hand (rather than through the car wash) every so often. When you wash by hand you will likely get some ideas on what you would like to change after spending some quality time rubbing it down.

There are so many things you can upgrade on the typical car that it can be difficult to decide where to start. It really depends on what is more important for you. If looks are more important than comfort, then focus on exterior improvements. If comfort and interior styling are your thing, then start there.

We'll start from the inside out.

One of the nice modern conveniences is having a rear view mirror with a built-in trip computer. These will typically auto-dim, give you the compass direction, and even mileage if they can tie in to your car's electronics maxicheck pro. If you don't want to replace the mirror, you can also go with a GPS. These are useful not only for giving you directions, but helping you figure out what other points of interest are nearby that you didn't even know about.

I'm not one for fuzzy steering wheels or seat covers, but a lot of people are into that. If that's your thing, there's a wide array of colors and patterns to help you get your funk on and reflect your personality. One of the covers that I do advocate getting though are replacement floor mats and even replacement covers for the brake and gas pedals. The pedal cover replacements can improve your safety, so those are pretty much a no brainer.

Moving to the exterior, you will be able to find covers or replacements for tail lights and headlights. While you probably don't want to cover your headlights, you can get templates that give them a more contemporary outline. In some cases you might even be able to replace them with HID headlamps, but those are difficult and expensive.

Finally, if you want to go all out with flash, try an undercarriage lighting kit. Everyone will definitely notice as you cruise by with glowing purple haze emanating from the bottom of your vehicle Autel MaxiSys Pro.
